Disco dancing horse found in China

A certain Mr. Liu in Sichuan China claims his neighbor's horse can "disco dance and do other kinds of dances".

source: China Daily

The proud owner was surprised that Dashanyang, purchased for a mere 1000 Yuan 5 years ago could easily be trained to perform tricks and steps....

Mr. Dong Yongfa's horse wouldn't be the first dancing horse in existence, but certainly the first to do a disco dance ...

Considering that the claim comes from a Chinese man, what exactly is a disco dance? The Hustle? Pop and Lock? Break dancing? Unfortunately, haven't come accross a video of this. If this is indeed true, then soon enough, we'll see Dashanyang in a music video soon!

Dashanyang could very well be the famed white horse of Studio 54, one of very few horses to have had actually lived an active nightlife, stepped on a disco floor and mingled with the hottest female celebs.

To ride the white horse, one had to be female, naked and rich, therefore demystifying the meaning of the disco not disco tune "White Horse" by Laid Back.END

Jamiroquai new website

Jamiroquai has gone purple on his revamped website.

Recall visiting his website a while back on dial-up, very slow loading and lost patience, lots has changed since.

His MySpace page was the prefered destination to go, but like his former website, was taking forever to load, all had been remedied on his newly launched website shortly before the Holidays.

Navigation is smooth, and site flyes as fast as his collection of Italian super cars. Jay Kay said ... ...
, "The internet is shaping the future of music and I'm excited by the potential it offers artists. The new Jamiroquai.com site takes advantage of the internet's growing ability to connect and share more intimately with our fans. They are now more involved building and sharing what they wish from the content on our site, even creating content themselves to share with us and each other."
Siim Vips, CEO at Modera, a software company specialising in content management software development explains, "The Jamiroquai.com site is extremely flexible and intuitive and embraces the social media culture that has been prolific of late. The site works in tandem with the bands profiles on MySpace, Virb, Netvibes, Imeem and a branded YouTube channel to name a few. All of Jamiroquai's photography and imagery is available on the new site and is pulled from Flickr so fans can catch the latest snaps of the band at gigs and on tour."

Fans will be able to interact with Jamiroquai, enabling them to place popular widgets and Jamiroquai content on their own social networking and/or blog pages easily. The website employs new technologies, including a calendar with updates on where the band is and what they're doing.

Jay Kay and the band are presently in the studio writing tunes for the upcoming album.END

Disco still dead according to US TV News

US news are not trustworthy as far as music trends are concerned.

Again and again every time July comes, they bring up Chicago's disco demolition night from 1979 and pass that as news.

Instead of researching the subject, whether disco is popular or reinterpreted in music, the influence of disco culture in today's apparel style and trends, all they do is rehash disco hatred and glorify Steve Dahl. They also fail to mention that disco has been played again at Comiskey Park ... (renamed Cellular Field) during a Chicago Sox game as we reported in the disco news section of our website 2 years ago.

Watch their excitement as Dahl announces there are plans for a movie based on this event.

Keith Olbermann is best remembered for airing his opinion about the White House recently. END

Sinclar hit by lightening too

Look at Bob's new promotional photo! What a coincidence! You must have read by now about the guy who was hit with a thunderbolt while listening to his portable MP3 player on a beautiful rainy day.

The current passed through his headphone, his eardrums were lacerated, it followed the wiring atop his chest, he was burned there too.

See the photo of the guy who got hit
and no, it doesn't look like Bob's photo

P.S. That's a stupid photo with the ketchup ... trick, but Bob's in shape, looks like the armpits have been given a trim. END

Angelo's book reached Hilton's cell

Marty Angelo, the founder and host of the Disco TV dance show "Disco Step by Step" in the late 70s and owner of the website of the same name circa 2000-2004 now a prison minister, reached out to Paris Hilton during the turmoil created when L.A. County Judge Michael Sauer ordered Hilton back to jail after being released on house arrest by L.A. County Sheriff Leroy D. Bacca.

Angelo petitioned Judge Sauer asking him not to send the hotel heiress back to jail but instead have ... Angelo serve out her sentence so Hilton could receive proper psychological, physical, and spiritual treatment elsewhere.

When asked why he offered to serve Hilton's jail sentence whom he never even met, Angelo responded by saying, "It started when I first sent Miss Hilton a copy of my book, "Once Life Matters: A New Beginning" after she had her first scrape with the law. I knew back then she needed help."

When Paris Hilton answered Larry King's questions, she stated she learned while incarcerated that the typical woman released from L.A. County jail returns there at least "7.3 more times because they have nowhere to live."

"Miss Hilton needs to take heed to her own remarks," Angelo continued. "It is not just because the women do not have a place to live upon release. Many female and male ex-prisoners willingly go back into a life of substance abuse, partying, and breaking the law."

Paris Hilton quoted directly from one of the book's pages during her Larry King interview when she used Angelo's 'prison motto' advice: "Don't serve the time, let the time serve you." Hilton stated, "I did that and that really helped."END

Net radio backlashes at major record labels

UpstageRadio.com participated in the "Day of Silence" on Tuesday, June 26th 2007, the next step is the deletion of thousands of songs from major record labels.

"There will be no U2, no Beatles, no Rolling Stones," said Gary Wien, program director for the net radio station Upstage Radio. "I'm taking many of my favorite artists out of the rotation. Once I learned about the new royalty proposals I made the decision that I would no longer buy records from major labels. Why give them more of my money when they're trying to put stations like mine out of business? I'd estimate that Upstage Radio has spent between $10-15,000 on major label records through the years to build up the station's catalog, but they won't get a dime more from us. It's sad that many artists thought online radio stations were trying to protest paying royalties when we've been paying all along; What we're protesting is the way the RIAA is trying to kill online radio in favor of big, corporate radio stations. And since the record industry is showing their support of the big guys, we're going to show our support for the little guys... "

UpstageRadio.com will still play artists from independent record labels because they generally support online radio and recognize the importance of internet radio stations. Wien estimates that about half of the 22,000 songs in the station database are major label artists who will no longer be part of the rotation, but he's looking forward to the challenge of creating a great station with indie artists.

Editor's note: In 2007, there's so many new acts, new musicians around while the majors are trying to feed us pre-packaged dolls and puppets who know nothing about music, the timing is absolutely perfect, the majors can't stop fans from discovering indie artists on MySpace, absolutely nothing, unless they sign them all up.END

Eau de Prince

Prince's perfume will come to life at the same time as the Live Earth Event.

To celebrate 2007 in style and further 3121, the latest album and Vegas club by the purple majesty, Prince will launch his fragrance 3121 on 07-07-2007 during his concert in Minneapolis.

The fragrance was created in full concert with the artist, resulting in an enticing scent that captures the essence of his eclectic style and music genius.

3121 is a white floral scent that opens with a refreshing sparkle of crisp ... bergamot, opulent jasmine and gardenia. Orange flower and muguet sensually intertwine with tuberose and ylang ylang, creating a subtle, mysterious blend; evolving into notes of patchouli and creamy sandalwood. Precious cedarwood and luxurious musks complement this sexy scent.

"The 3121 fragrance collection is the result of a shared vision to expand Prince's creative opportunities and avenues of expression," said Larry Couey, President of Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics.

The introduction of the 3121 fragrance will be the first of many products under the umbrella of the 3121 brand. The 3121 Perfume collection will simultaneously debut at select Macy's stores. Prince and Revelations Perfumes will donate 7 percent of the sales to 7 selected charities.

The 30 ml bottle of Eau de Parfum sells for $31.21, quite affordable, I'm tempted to try it.END

Hip hop is dead, numbers are in

It's official! Expect to see less and less of bum rappers flashin' their rented cars and borrowed villas, faux pimps and ho's, pole strippin' and all on TV and radio.

The rumors have been swirling since last year, the numbers are now there to prove it.

Even kids are tired of the genre, hip-hop is not cool anymore but don't tell that to the music moguls... , they'll suck hip-hop dry as long as they can, hip hop on the mainstream lived so long only cause it was oh so profitable.

USA Today has published an in-depth article complete with record sales numbers.

Read "Can rap regain its crown" on USA Today
"Who killed hip-hop" also on USA Today

Classic hip-hop (re:1979-1996) will evidently gain a new following, generation "Y" are discovering that there's more to the genre than what they've been accustomed to in the last 5-10 years.END

Madonna and Justin making music

Madonna has already started working on her next album. Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams will contribute.

It's been reported in gossip magazines that she started shopping for an appartement in Manhattan. By the way, she'll be part of the London leg of "Live Earth", the Al Gore equivalent to Bob Geldof's Live 8.

Apparently, Madonna said she wants to dig into her hip-hop roots on this one.

NAS claimed hip-hop is dead and guess what? He stands by his words. So let's cross our fingers it'll be roots hip-hoppy, not like today's crap, and by looking at Pharrell and Justin's latest material, it could be quite good.

Female singer wanted by Mark Ronson

Mark needs a female singer to take on tour

Ronson urgently seeks to find a stylish female vocalist with presence, whom has a flexible range and expression which can express music that will go from the vocal stylings of Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, and Santo Gold.

This would likely involve a good deal of touring globally around Mark's new album version. At present, the show is a 12-14 piece review all-star style party. Rehearsals start early May. Dates are throughout the Summer and Fall 2007. This is a very special opportunity with a strong vehicle for someone who has that certain magic and wants to enjoy making a bit of musical history with some great people.

If any of you think you fit the bill, or know someone who does, please forward MySpace links (no demos) where Mark and crew can hear them. Mark ask for serious responses only please.

Maurice Gibb gets a park

Shortly before the Winter Music Conference kicked off, Miami has inaugurated a park (formerly Island View Park at Purdy Avenue and 18 Street) bearing the name of a famous former resident; the late Maurice Gibb. Miami Beach's mayor, Maurice's family, mother Barbara, brothers Barry and Robin, friends and fans attended.

The Gibb clan has been part of the Miami Beach community for a long time. Maurice Gibb frequented the park, even when he and his brothers were not
recording. That is why, after his untimely death in 2003, his family and the City of Miami Beach worked
together to honor his memory at that very site.

Podcasting popularity stabilized

According to a report published on BBC News, the popularity of podcasting has plateauded (my own words), and coincidentally, another report barely a month ago also concluded most of the music contained in IPods and portable MP3 players are CD transfers, not downloads from the net, including the much hyped I-Tunes store. People buy CDs, transfer them to their computer, share their CDs with others (cause they're overpriced), that's how it goes. People want the images that comes with the music as well, downloads don't provide that.
