Prince, blobs and interpretation

Freudian Psychodynamic theory, tell me what you see.

Psychologists sometimes uses images, show them to their patients and ask: "What do you see?". Those images most often are like globs and blobs of various shapes.

Prince? Some have complained that during the Superbowl, Prince's guitar looked way too phallic, during the behind the huge winded drape episode. A veiled attempt to cause another scandal like the Janet Jackson nipple incident? Nope, didn't happen, thanks Prince, that was hilarious.

See the image that shocked a few here along with the story

New nu tracks by Fatback for 2007

The Fatback Band's leading and founding member Bill Curtis has new tracks to cater to both lovers of soulful house and discostylish nu grooves for 2007. Like Roy Ayers Ubiquity where his past classics were given the new millenium treatment by today's top djs/remixers/producers, Fatback has collaborated numerous times with the French group Bah Samba among others.

Bill Curtis wants to know what you think, listen to the new tunes and give your feedback here at the Fatback website.

1998 may have been the year disco officially came back mutated into disco and funky house, but it is in the new millenium (the exception is Tom Jones with Mousse T for Sex Bomb in the late 90s) we witnessed the pioneers slowly coming back to recording dance music, often alongside djs, remixers and producers from generation X and Y; there's Tom Moulton, Vince Montana Jr, Melba Moore, Earth Wind and Fire, Charlie Wilson, Sergio Mendes, Claudja Barry, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and the list is getting longer and longer every year.

Disco Cocktails served by Dimitri From Paris

Coming soon from Dimitri from Paris on BBE Records is "Cocktail Disco", a compilation of obscure disco classics remixed or re-edited. March 2007 was the scheduled release date, it's been postponed to June.

On Cocktail Disco, Dimitri from Paris says:

I believe this style was called Sleaze back in its days, from roughly 1976 to 1979. There were even DJs specialized in the Sleaze sound which was usually played after hours, in spots with a strong sex oriented drive.

Cocktail Disco has that ubiquitous 4/4 beat and flying open high hat, complemented by rich orchestrations, campy over the top vocals, and an often tropical latin vibe. Something that wouldn't feel out of place in a broadway musical.
