Those Magic Ladies are Hot and Sassy
Hailing from Detroit, the female trio Magic Lady served as background vocalists for Enchantment, Bob Seger, Keith Barrow and the Soul Searchers. In 1982, Linda Stokes, Jackie Steele and Kimberly Ball released on A&M "Hot n' Sassy". The single "Red hot Stuff was a R&B hit in the USA and "Hold Tight" became a cult UK soul track.
The brains behind their formation was Linda's husband Michael Stokes. Michael Stokes worked with Bill Withers, Herb Alpert, Booker T, Brass Construction, BT Express and Enchantment among others. In the eighties, Stokes was also head of A&R at A&M Records where he signed Janet Jackson and put Atlantic Starr together with producer James Anthony Carmichael.
